The 7stanes are seven mountain biking trail
centres spanning the South of Scotland. They are all individual and
host unique mountain biking experiences for all different levels of
skill. Each of the 7stanes features a handcrafted stane – Scot’s for
‘stone’ – reflecting a local myth or legend. Have you found all 7
yet? The 7stanes is marketed and promoted by the 7stanes CIC (a not-for-profit organisation), with day to day management and trail maintenance being carried out by Forestry Commission Scotland. |

Situated at Castle Douglas High School, this facility provides dry sporting and coaching opportunities to the residents of the Castle Douglas area. The centre offers a games hall, small gym and school assembly hall for multi-sport use, and also caters for outdoor football and tennis using the Stewartry all weather Astroturf, which is situated within the grounds of the High School. The Facility opening times are 6 –10pm Monday – Friday with some programmed weekend activities and other activities by prior arrangement. During the school holiday session the facility hosts Easter, summer and October play schemes to allow the towns youth to experience various sports and be able to interact with other children in a safe and controlled environment. The facility has a comprehensive program but times are available for casual and block bookings and offers opportunities for participation through to excellence level in a variety of sports. As well as council run coaching clubs, the Scottish Football Association also use the facilities pitches and games hall for youth football training. The facility is also home to the Threave Bowmen Archery Club, Castle Douglas Gymnastics and Table Tennis Clubs, with a number of other local groups and individual clubs using the facility |

in 1939 as the Kirkcudbrightshire Bowling Association; it was changed
in 1973 to the Stewartry Bowling Association. The aims of the association is - To foster and promote the game of bowls in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright and to determine the conditions and rules for matches and competitions in which it may be agreed to engage. All Bowling Clubs situated between the Rivers Nith and Cree shall be eligible for membership of the Association. |
