Loch Roan is set in a lovely secluded area and is very well maintained, it is a clear water loch as it is the water supply for Castle Douglas. The fishing association stocks the loch regularly with good sizes of brown and rainbow trout which are in very good condition.

Mossdale Loch is set in the beautiful Galloway countryside with open field on one side of the loch and tree cover on the other. The loch is stocked regularly with varying sizes of brown and rainbow trout which are very sporting when hooked, along the west side of the loch there are a few sheltered areas if the weather turns a little breezy. Permits and oars are obtained from Mossdale shop which is just a few hundred yards up the road.
